His Presence Lifted Up

So, when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely cut off. So, the people crossed over opposite Jericho. The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground. Joshua 2:14-17

Issues of Life

“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:1-2 Preach the Word! Paul was emphatic about that as he encouraged Timothy to do it several times. He also told him to be ready in season and out of season. Of course, Timothy would be prepared at the regular meeting times but it seems Paul is saying he should be ready at ‘all’ times to give a defense of the good news. That’s great advice for any ministry person, for sure. But, it’s even good advice for any of us who are born again believers.

My Help Comes from the Lord

I lift up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 In Numbers 2:2, the Lord told Moses to have the Israelites camp around the Tent of Meeting or the tabernacle – each man under his standard with the banners of his family. Each tribe of Israel had an insignia, a symbol, or a family crest that identified them. That standard and banner would go with them when they broke camp and traveled, when they went into battle, and when they camped around the tabernacle. When our nation has gone into battle or landed on the moon – our flag has identified the United States of America.

Go and Do

Which of these three do you think proved himself a neighbor to the man who encountered the robbers? He answered, the one who showed compassion and mercy to him. Then Jesus said to him, Go and constantly do the same. Luke 10:36-37 (Amplified Bible)

“But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra – what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.” 2 Timothy 3:10-11

“Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.” 2 Timothy 3:8

Stay a Little Longer

As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses. Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshipped, each at the entrance to his tent. The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent. Exodus 33:9-11
