Bessie McColgin 100 years ago, in 1920, the League of Nations was established, the Russian Civil War ended, the Mexican Revolution ended, and Northern Ireland was created. The 1918 influenza pandemic disappeared by the end of 1920 after killing 50,000,000 people worldwide. In the U.S., Prohibition began, and an anarchist bomb in a horsedrawn wagon killed 38 people and injured hundreds on Wall Street. Edith Wilson was effectively running the country after her husband, President Woodrow Wilson, suffered a debilitating stroke. The first commercial radio station hit the airwaves, and mass media was born. American football became a professional sport.…
