1955 Pioneer Woman of Oklahoma to be Honored

Winner of 1955 “Pioneer Woman of Oklahoma” contest to be honored by Washita Chapter NSDAR. In 1955 there was a statewide contest headed by Mrs. Martha Aaron of Oklahoma City. Letters were sent to the County Superintendents of Schools throughout the state giving the rules and qualifications for the contest. The woman could not have been born in Oklahoma. She must have accomplished something in pioneering that present day women do not have to do. She should be a married woman, preferably a mother and a woman of deep religious conviction who had given outstanding service to her community. Thirty-eight…
