405 Area Code Exhausted, New Area Code Announced

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has approved a plan to address the projected exhaust in the supply of telephone numbers for the geographic area currently served by the 405-area code. Called an “overlay”, the plan will add an additional area code to the 405 area. According to the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA), the 405-area code is on track to run out of telephone numbers by December of 2021.
