Accident Claims Life of Local Teenager

The Hammon and Cheyenne communities are mourning the death of 16-year-old Michael Land after he died in a two-vehicle accident west of Hammon Wednesday evening, February 4, 2021.The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Land was east bound on Highway 33, approximately six miles west of Hammon when just before 7:00p.m. he hit a deer with his car, that caused the vehicle to swerve into the west bound lane where he struck a semi head-on.Land was ejected 20 feet from the car and was pronounced dead on the scene from head injuries.
