Barbara Darlene Nistler 1923 ~ 2021


Barbara Darlene Nistler was born February 10, 1923 west of Moorewood, Oklahoma to Vina Payne (Sketchley) and Ellis X Smith. She passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at Roger Mills County Memorial Hospital at the age of 98 years, 5 months and 6 days.
Barbara grew up west of Moorewood, Oklahoma on her family’s farm. She attended school at Texmo, Union Center and graduated from Hammon High School. After graduation she found employment with Tinker Air Force Base before returning to Hammon where she worked in the Soil Conservation office. She met and was later married to David Paul Nistler on July 4, 1955 at Topeka, Kansas. After their marriage Barbara and Dave moved around following his employment in the construction industry. They returned to Roger Mills County, east of Cheyenne, in the 70’s where they made their home. She worked alongside her husband as a farm wife tending their cattle. She enjoyed having company over and visiting with her friends and neighbors. Barbara enjoyed going on road trips, feeding and watching the birds and wildlife, caring for her cats, and she was a member of the Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two affordabbrothers, Shannon Smith and Joe Smith. Barbara is survived by her nieces, nephews, special caregivers and a host of other relatives and friends.
