Bessie McColgin Celebrated in Cheyenne

Nancy Lyle, Carol Ann Batterton, June Conrad, Kay Lovett, Holly Frazier, Sarah Pool andConnie Tate. July 25, 2021, was declared ‘Amelia Elizabeth “Bessie” McColgin Day’ in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. The Flags were flying high and the Washita Chapter NSDAR hosted an event at the Roger Mills Court House honoring her for her service as the first woman to serve as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.Bessie was elected to serve the 1920-21 term and led the way for other female candidates in the future. She served as a role model for other Oklahoma women and exemplified the Oklahoma spirit.Bessie…
