Bobby Carter was born August 11, 1936 in Sayre Oklahoma to Allie Mae (Dees) and Jesse Asbury Carter. He passed away Friday, November 6th, 2020 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 26 days.
Bobby grew up in the New Liberty community where he attended school. He transferred to Sayre schools when he reached high school graduating in 1954. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Korea. Upon his discharge he was later married to Binnie Kay (Carnes) Carter on May 4, 1962 at Mangum, Oklahoma. They made their home in Sayre, Oklahoma where they continued to live and raise their family. Bobby found employment at a Carpenter’s Furniture Store for a period of time before starting his 33-year career with Arkla Gas Pipeline.
He also had side jobs including wiring houses with Kermit and there was always farm work to be done on the family farm. Bobby also enjoyed fishing, playing basketball, tennis, being a jokester, helping with AWANA program at the First Baptist Church and spending time with his family and friends. Above all Bobby had a servant’s heart and believed with that and studying God’s word everything else would take care of itself.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Darren Carter; a grandson, Ben Carter and a son-in-law, James Rogers.
He is survived by his children Jonni Patrick and husband, Curt, Cheyenne, OK, Stacie Reid and husband, Dan, Elk City, OK and Kirby Carter and wife, Shonda, Sayre, OK; daughter-inlaw, Michelle Carter, Sayre, OK; Twelve grandchildren, Katie, Abbie, Catherine, Ondrea, Richard, Gabriel, Jon Luke, Katy, Emily, Eli, Kyle and Holly; Seventeen great grandchildren; one sister, Corene Kingham and husband, Dale and a host of other family and friends. A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Affordable Cremation Service-West. The family will greet friends and family at The Brick at 109 East Main Street, Sayre, OK on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at the Carnes family pond west of Sayre, Oklahoma.
