Bucket Calf Show at Harvest Fair

The Bucket Calf competition is designed to introduce youth 6-12 years old to beef and dairy projects. By allowing younger children the experience of working with a smaller, less intimidating size of animal, they gain comfort and confidence with beef and dairy cattle as they grow. This is designed to be a short-term project, if desired, with calves purchased in summer and finalized with showing at the county free fair. Bucket Calf refers to an orphaned or newborn calf. Calves may be male or female; dairy, beef or cross; and must be hand-fed on bucket or bottle. No nursing permitted.…
