Carl Dene Orgain was born October 19, 1926, l3 miles East of Elk City, OK, to Roy D and Leona (Bloomer) Orgain and passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at the age of 94.
He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Carl attended school at Texmo before going to Hammon Schools where he graduated in 1944. After graduation he had several odd jobs, before receiving his draft papers in December of 1944. After 10 months he got a furlough and headed home to marry Essie Merle Foster on October 5, 1945. He served in the Army until November 26, 1946. When discharged he came back to Hammon where he was a Farmer/Rancher/Dairyman until 1992 when he sold the farm and moved to town. He worked for Trout’s Disposal for 11 years until he could work no more at the age of 91. He had been going to Moorewood Baptist Church for 92 years plus two from home. He was saved at a young age. At Moorewood, Carl taught the Young Adults Sunday School Class for many years. He was a long time member of the American Legion, served on the Hammon Board of Education for 15 years, Roger Mills Coop Board for 14 years, as well as on the AMPI Dairy board a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Merle, and infant son, Stephen R. Orgain, his parents, a grandson, Josh Smith, a daughter-in-law Judy Orgain, and infant great-granddaughter, Vivian Rose and 4 siblings: George O’ther Orgain, Dove Carlisle, Le- Roy Orgain, James Orgain, Earl Orgain.
Survivors include: sons, Dennis Orgain of Mustang, and Greg Orgain and his wife Debbie of Hammon. Grandchildren: Alexia Lowry and her husband, Randy of Sayre, Amy Tatum and her husband Tab of Tuttle, Jake Smith and wife Carrie of Mustang, Jarrod Smith and his wife Brooke of Tuttle, Andy Orgain and his wife Allana of Elk City, Alan Orgain and his wife Jeslyn of Eunice, LA, Austin Orgain and his wife Taylor of Hammon. Great grandchildren: Ty Tatum, Aaron Lowry and fiance` Rylee, Tate Tatum, Amanda Lowry, Alex Orgain, Tabe Tatum, Aiden Orgain, Ruby Orgain, Eliana Smith, Bragen Smith, Avery Orgain, Claire Tatum, Aiken Orgain and Maddox Orgain. One sister, Doloryce Williams of Elk City.
The family asks that memorials in Carl’s name be made to the Hammon Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 218, Hammon, OK 73650 or Moorewood Missionary Baptist Church, 8787 N 2043 RD, Leedey, OK 73654.
