Charles Jimmie “Jim” Hughes 1944 ~ 2024

Charles Jimmie “Jim” Hughes was born April 24, 1944 to Charles Victor and Alta Mae Hughes in Wright, OK. He passed on February 8th, 2024 in Cheyenne, OK. at the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 17 days.

Growing up, Jim and his family moved up and down the eastern side of Oklahoma until they settled in Chouteau, OK. He attended school in Chouteau and graduated with the class of 1962. In 1965 Jim enlisted in the United States Army were he faithfully served until 1967. After being honorably discharged he resided in Chouteau and Locust area until 1980 where he worked as a carpenter. Jim married Annie Marie Moore and to this union four children were born Glen, Rick, Charlie and Stephen. In 1977 Jim started working in the oilfield and in 1980 Jim moved to Montana and Reydon 1982, and finally Cheyenne in 1984 were he made his home until his passing. On June 19, 1986, Jim married Treva Boyett and added three children to his family Christy, Becky, and Jason. In the oil field Jim worked his way up from floor hand to tool pusher and worked until he retired in 2006. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and work. He was a member of the VFW at Cheyenne. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Alta Hughes, two sisters Martha Hughes Mary Poe, two brothers Sam Hughes and Terry Hughes, stepson Jason Parkhurst, son-in-law Gary Batchelor.

He is survived by his wife of the home Treva Hughes; children Glen Hughes and wife Tina of Arapaho, OK, Rick Hughes of Elk City, OK, Charlie Hughes and wife Barbara of Cordell, OK, Christy Batchelor of Cheyenne, OK, Stephen Hughes and wife Terri of Arapaho, OK, Becky Newman of Cheyenne; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; sister Ethma Suggs of Chouteau, OK; brother Leon Hughes of Claremore, OK; brothers- in-law John Poe of Locust Grove, OK, Billy J Boyett and wife Sherry of Shawnee, OK; sisters- in-law Rose Hughes of Chouteau, Virginia Hughes of Pittsburgh, KS; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Affordable Cremation Service-West, Elk City, Oklahoma.
