The first oilfield blaze in Roger Mills County started shortly before midnight Friday, September 7, in the west Reydon field a the No. 1 Scrivner being drilled by El Paso Natural Gas. The Red Adair Oil Well Fire Extinguishers of Houston, Texas arrived on Saturday and immediately started preliminary steps toward extinguishing the flame. No one was hurt in the fire, but the rig was a complete loss.
