Hammon farmers are in the process of purchasing a 2-mile track of the Old Katy Railroad line that connects Hammon with the Santa Fe. Citizens had named a five man board, headed by Burl Timms, to handle a number of problems involved in the purchase. The total cost is estimated at $90,000. The Katy spur would link a coop, a private feed operation and a bulk fertilizer plant in Hammon to the Pacific and Santa Fe Railroad.
