Cheyenne 50 Years Ago

Carl Shockey, 22-year-old brother of Doug Shockey, Hammon night watchman, and former deputy sheriff of Roger Mills County was killed by an explosion near Beaver on Wednesday. He died in a Tulsa hospital Thursday. Another man, Overt Brady was critically injured from the blast. The explosion occurred at Kerr-McGee Oil Company, where the men were working. David Hall took the oath of office Monday which made him the 20th Governor of Oklahoma. Two new faces at the Roger Mills County Courthouse are those of Jack Barton and Larry Graves.
