The Upper Washita Soil and Water Conservation District held their annual FFA-SWCD Conservation Speech Contest at Hammon on March 30, 1971. Mr. Frank Tidwell presented the cash awards to the winners. 1st place: Larry Schriener, Clinton; 2nd place Clark Hodge, Hammon and 3rd place John Butcher, Cheyenne. Four Roger Mills County 4-H members did well Saturday in the Upper Washita Soil and Water Conservation District Judging Contest for 4-H and FFA teams.
