Dorene Alise Reed 1936 ~ 2023

Dorene Alise (Strunk) Reed was born February 16, 1936, in Vancouver Washington to Lester and Hildegarde (Groth)Strunk and went home to her Lord January 14th, 2023, at Providence Hospital in Hood River, Oregon. She was 86 years old.
Leon and Dorene lived in Leedey, Oklahoma for 41 years on the Reed family homestead until they moved to Cascade Locks, Oregon with daughter and son-in-law (Debra and Dan) since October 2021.
Dorene graduated from Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Washington and then attended business school at Cascade College Portland, Oregon.
She was previously married to Ray Grace and had two children. She was a single parent to her two children and working at a plywood mill where she met Leon Reed the love of her life and they married on August 11th, 1978. Leon also has four daughters.
Dorene was not only a devoted wife and mother, but she also worked tirelessly with Leon at potato plant in Boardman Oregon until they moved to Leedey where they ran the Reed Furniture store until they closed it. She then became the city clerk/treasurer for the City of Leedey. She played piano and organ at the Red Star Church in Leedey and played piano in Cascade Locks and was music director.
She was preceded in Death by her parents, Lester and Hildegarde Strunk, brother, Leon Strunk, granddaughter, Pamela Ferguison, grandsons James Sharp, and Michael Ferguison. She is survived by her husband, Leon Reed, sister, Grace (Strunk) Dickson, son, Clay Grace (Lolita), daughters, Debra Reed-Sharp (Dan Sharp), Kathy (Reed) Bolin (Gene), Robbin (Reed) Ferguison, Meschelle (Grace) Whitaker (Hal), and Kimberly (Reed) Williams (Colin). She has 16 surviving grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
A celebration of life for Dorene will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Cascade Locks Community Church (5 SW Benson Ave, Cascade Locks, OR 97014).
