Duayne Roger Clapp, 85, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on June 13, 1935 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is the son of John and Tressa (Cramer) Clapp. He went to be with his Lord on February 8, 2021 at Elkwood Assisted Living in Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
He enjoyed making his own bows. Duayne served honorably in the United States Army during the Koran War. Duayne also served the Lord as a missionary with the Baptist World Mission for twenty-five years. His mission service took him to Uruguay, South America, Talavera, Spain and Montreal, Canada.
Duayne married his best friend, Roberta Jo Scott on February 11, 1956 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elk City, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, February 12, 2021 and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. Rev. Douglas McLachlan will officiate, and Rev. Gilbert Seddon will assist. Interment will be at Strong City Cemetery in Strong City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing his memory are his two sons, Shawn Clapp and his wife Penny of Elk City, Oklahoma, Shannon Clapp and his wife Kimberly of Rochester, Minnesota; two daughters, Shelly Ashley and her husband Johnny of Elk City, Oklahoma, Sharla Gutierrez and her husband Lucho of Talavera, Spain; eight grandchildren, Amanda Ashley of Elk City, Oklahoma, Amanda Stevens and her husband Ben of Hibbing, Minnesota, Aaron Clapp and his wife Mitzi of West Jordan, Utah, Christopher Gutierrez and his wife Sara of Talavera, Spain, Lorena Gutierrez of Talavera, Spain, Nicholas Gutierrez of Manilla, Philippines, Benjamin Clapp and his wife Mychal of Rochester Minnesota, Joshua Clapp and his wife Claire of Eagon, Minnesota; seven great-grandchildren, Isaac Gutierrez, Ryan Stevens, Audrey Stevens, Rhett Clapp, Tayla Clapp, Oliver Clapp, and Cecelia Clapp.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Tressa Clapp; three brothers, Gordon Clapp, Alan Clapp, and Norman Clapp; one sister, Arlene Schroyer.
