Geraldine “Geri” Bowers passed away Thursday, December 24th, 2020 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Geraldine was born February 5th, 1930 in Mason, Oklahoma to Tom and Meddie Bradley. She was united in marriage to Charles Bowers on August 6th, 1949 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Charles preceded her in death November 24th, 2014 after 65 years of marriage.
Geri attended school in Mason, Oklahoma and Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Geri was active in the pep club, basketball and softball teams and the interscholastic meet. She was the valedictorian of her high school class and was voted the girl most likely to succeed. The bright moments of her school years were her senior class trip to Mexico on May 22nd, 1948.
Geri was a nurse who worked for Dr. Payne for 2 years and Dr. Frank Kendrick Buster for more than 40 years. Geri, Opal and Dr. Buster could be heard in the clinic and hospital with their laughs. She worked as a clinical nurse and surgical nurse during her career. Geri and her husband, Charles, ranched and farmed and operated a grade A dairy south of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She helped her husband on the farm from driving a tractor to moving irrigation pipe. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, camping in Colorado and New Mexico with her family and friends. She also loved reading and would read 2 to 3 books a week.
Geri was a member of the First Baptist Church; Cheyenne, Oklahoma and had an unwavering faith in God. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church youth Sunday school class. She was also a very loving mother and grandmother who adored her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Barbara Rhea Estes, 3 brothers, Sam, Glen and Bill Bradley and her sister, Erma Jean Barber. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Kay Beck and husband, Pete, Cheyenne, OK; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Wayne Beck, Lee Rhea and wife, Lisa, Scott Rhea; 3 step-grandchildren, Heath Hefner, Shandea Rhea Ray and Shala Rhea; great grandchildren, Ashley Rhea, Kelton and Cade Beck, Ralston, Garison and Addison Jones; sister, Betty Laxton; brother, Jack Bradley; sister-in-law, Carol Ann Batterton, Ramona Bradley and a special friend, Donnie Moorman. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Bell Avenue Nursing Center and everyone else who cared for Geri.
