Hammon School Recognizes 8th Grade Honor Students

Principal Mike Higgins announced recently Hammon School’s Junior High Honor Students. The students will be recognized at the Junior High Promotion Exercises on Sunday, May16, 2021, in the School Auditorium at 2:30 P.M. The Eighth Grade class has four Valedictorians—Jacee Baker, Josie McGlothlin, Tessa Spikes, and Henley West. The Salutatorian is Derieda Ramirez.
Jacee Jean Baker is the daughter of Brice and Jennifer Baker. Her grandparents are Guy and the late Iris Baker, and Jimmy Pat and Diana Boyett. Jacee has one sister, Allee who will be in the 7th grade next year. Jacee has been on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, and loves playing softball and basketball. Her hobbies include sports, fishing, and hunting. Jacee attends the Hammon Community Fellowship Church.
Josie McGlothlin is the daughter of Monte and Cassie McGlothlin. Her grandparents are Larry and Sabie McGlothlin, Terry and David Keith, and Gerry Fults. Josie has a younger brother, Clay, who will be in Junior High next year. Josie has been on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. She loves spending time with her family and friends, and she loves riding horses. Tessa Spikes is the daughter of Keith and Debbie Spikes. Her grandparents are Fales and Judy Spikes and Connie Gass. Tessa has an older brother, Jaxon, who will be a senior next year. Tessa has been on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, enjoys playing softball, and won 1st place in the Hammon School Junior High Art Contest. Tessa loves hanging with friends, drawing, and baking. She attends the Hammon Community Fellowship Church.
Henley West is the daughter of Jevon and Crystal West. Her grandparents are Joe and Brenda West and Connie and the late Terry Henry. Henley has one younger sister, Baylor. Henley has been on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and loves playing basketball. Henley is very involved in FFA as well. Her hobbies include playing for the Western Oklahoma Ravens and helping her dad on the farm. She also loves spending times with her family and friends. Henley attends the Hammon United Methodist Church.
Derieda Ramirez is the Salutatorian, and she is the daughter of Jorge and Beronica Ramirez. Her grandparents are Charlotte Reece and Steve Carolton. Derieda has three siblings— Perrla, Carols, and Anna.
Derieda has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll and placed 1st last year in Drawing at the Melcalfe Art Competition. She loves doing all kinds of art and is active in the FFA. Dereida attends the Hammon Community Fellowship Church. Congratulations!
