Joe Whitson of Cheyenne, Oklahoma was born on August 15, 1937 in Heavenor, Oklahoma to Theodore and Alice Whitson. He passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
Joe grew in Cheyenne and attended Cheyenne School. He married Gayle Ann Fallis of Watonga, Oklahoma and they made their home in Cheyenne. Joe worked for GB Purcell (Purcell Chevrolet) in Cheyenne as a mechanic till 1968. Then he opened Joe’s Barber Shop in Cheyenne and worked there until his retirement. Joe loved being around people and enjoyed telling old stories about the history of Cheyenne. He also loved to fish and make the Saturday night stock car races. He was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Danny Whitson of Cheyenne, OK and Terry Whitson of Elk City, OK and one daughter, Kristy Whitson of Hitchcock, OK; one brother, Mike Whitson of Mustang OK and one sister Cleo Pierce of Cheyenne, OK and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Joe will be truly missed.
