Johnny Joseph Mong IV was born June 12th, 1951 in Dumas, Texas to Juanita Inez (Walls) and Johnny Joseph Mong III. He passed away at his home east of Carter, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 30th, 2022 at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 18 days.
Johnny grew up in Dumas, Texas and attended Sweetwater High School graduating in 1969. After graduation he worked for General Electric and he met Debrah Weedeman and they were later married in Canby, Oregon in April of 1971.
Shortly after their marriage she was tragically killed in a car accident. That same year Johnny was drafted into the United States Army and served stateside during the Vietnam era. After his discharge, he returned to the Wheeler, Texas area where he worked for Greenbelt Electric where he remained for five years. It was during this time his illness forced his retirement. Johnny enjoyed riding motorcycles, leather work, charcoal artwork, collecting knives and swords, and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father; wife and infant child; two brothers, Michael Keith and Wesley Jay Mong.
Johnny is survived by his mother, Inez Manselle, Carter, OK; bonus brothers, Joe, Norm, Lee, and Kim Manselle and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Fairlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals. com
