Kimberly Ann Thompson 1970 ~ 2020


Kimberly Ann Smith Thompson AKA “Kim the Great” was born December 16,1970 in Sayre, OK. She entered the arms of Jesus on July 21, 2020 at the age of 49 years, 7 months, and 5 days in her home in Leedey surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Kim grew up on the family dairy farm in Leedey and attended school at Leedey Public Schools. She enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball and was active in many clubs and organizations.

She graduated from Leedey High School in 1989. Kim received her Secretarial certificate from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Sayre, OK. She worked as a secretary at Sayre Hospital for several years. She then worked as an ophthalmology tech at Britton Vision Associates in Elk City, OK.

Kim and Mike Thompson were joined in marriage on June 4, 1997. She was blessed with her children – Ty Ray Thompson and Michaela Shea Thompson and stepdaughter Lacie Marie Thompson. She worked as a stay at home mom for a few years after having Michaela. She then began working with her sister, Dr. Jamie Gore, as her receptionist. Kim absolutely loved working with the patients and went above and beyond to make sure they were taken care of. She always had a smile and was a ray of sunshine to all who encountered her. She never let anyone know she was battling cancer.

Kim was a member of Harvest Fellowship Church in Leedey.

Kim’s favorite hobby was fishing. She was one heck of a fisherman. Many of her family members through the years were envious of her fishing skills. She also enjoyed watching her children, nieces and nephews sports/ activities. She loved watching the Leedey Bison and Lady Bison teams. She also enjoyed playing cornhole and horseshoes with family and friends. Everything she enjoyed revolved around her children and family.

Kim was preceded in death by Mike Thompson and her Grandparents, Joe and Alma Stanley and Edward and Meryl Smith.

She is survived by her son Ty Thompson of Leedey, OK; daughter Michaela Thompson of Leedey, OK; Mother Joyce Smith and father James Smith of Leedey, OK; Brother Rusty Smith and wife Randi of Leedey, OK; Sister Dr. Jamie Gore and husband Darin of Leedey, OK. Nieces Tamara Smith of Oklahoma City, OK, Rylie and Saidi Gore of Leedey, OK and Nephews Kolby Smith and Coulson Gore of Leedey, OK, and many aunts/uncles, cousins, and friends.

Kim was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Memorial Donations in Kim’s honor may be made to The Leedey Clinic Association in care of Shaw Funeral Home, P.O. Box 276, Vici, OK 73859.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Leedey School Auditorium. Burial will follow at New Herman Cemetery. Condolences may be made to the family at Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey.
