Lauren Stanley Lamb 1933 ~ 2021

Lauren Stanley Lamb was born November 21, 1933 in Hammon, Oklahoma to Mattie Mae (Johns) and Joe B. Lamb. He passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 8 days.

Stanley grew up on the family farm seven miles west of Hammon, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hammon High School in 1951. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma where he was working on his bachelors in education. After his first semester in college he was married to Betty Jean (Scott) on December 2, 1951. After their marriage they moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico and he finished his bachelors degree at Highland University. After graduation Stanley and Betty began their family and he began his teaching career. He taught in various different schools and later in his career became a principal and superintendent in multiple different schools in western Oklahoma. In the late 90’s Stanley retired and filled in as the superintendent with the McLean, Texas school district for a few years before returning to Sayre where he and Betty made their home. He had a servants heart and filled in as pastor at many churches as well as singing and leading many to the Lord. Stanley enjoyed fishing, singing, working with wood, gardening his vegetables and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sons, LaMar, Glen and Gary Lamb; two brothers, David and LaMar Lamb and two sisters, JoAnn Walker and Edith Roan.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty, of the home; two sons, Joe Lamb and wife, Julie, Cedar Lake, OK and Greg Lamb and wife, Cindy, Lawton, OK; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Morris Lamb and his family and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 4th, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Fellowship officiated by Andy Taylor and Mark Haney.
