Leedey FFA Holds 2023 Banquet

The Leedey FFA Chapter held their 2023 FFA Banquet on May 16. FFA members, along with parents, guests, supporters, school faculty, and administration were in attendance for this annual event to recognize members for their achievements of FFA degrees, proficiencies, and star awards.
FFA is structured into a degree program with the first three of the five degrees awarded at the local level. The Discovery Degree is the first of five degrees and is awarded to 8th grade FFA members. Those Leedey members awarded the Discovery FFA Degree were MaKinlee Carpenter, Scout Clark, Dakota Coogle, Jaxon Gamble, Reece Green, Addisyn Gourlay, Madi McClain, Wyatt Mcintyre, Farin Reeves and Jake Price.
The Greenhand Degree is the second degree and is awarded to 9th grade FFA members meeting the minimum requirements. Hudsyn Boren, Kelton Dowdle, Maddie Harrel, Tyler Price, Rebel Shook, Brody Terbush and Tyler Welty were awarded this degree. The Chapter FFA Degree is awarded to high school members who have met certain minimum requirements above the previous two degrees. Those Leedey FFA members being awarded the Chapter FFA Degree were Delaney Acuna, Aidyn Boren, Keelynn Dirickson and Cooper Jones. Outstanding members at each degree level were presented with Star Awards. The Star Greenhand was presented to Hudsyn Boren and Kelton Dowdle, the Star Chapter Farmer was presented to Kelsey Dowdle, Chapter Star in Agricultural Placement was presented to Carter Weber, and Chapter Star in Agribusiness was presented to Rylie Gore. Members excelling in their Supervised Agricultural Experience Program were recognized through the proficiency awards program. Those members receiving proficiency awards were as follows: MaKinlee Carpenter- Beef Placement, Dakota Coogle-Beef Placement, Madi McClain-Beef Entrepreneurship, Wyatt Mcintyre-Beef Entrepreneurship, Tyler Price-Agricultural Services, Maddie Harrel-Beef Entrepreneurship, Hudsyn Boren-Swine Entrepreneurship, Kelton Dowdle-Diversified Livestock Entrepreneurship, Rebel Shook-Swine Entrepreneurship, Aidyn Boren-Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management, Nolyn Branson-Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance, Brogan Devlin-Beef Entrepreneurship, Caroline Hahn-Swine Entrepreneurship, Alexander Palmer-Turf and Grass Management, Kelsey Dowdle-Small Animal Production, and Carter Weber-Beef Placement.
In the fall, members of the FFA sold blue and gold sausage as a fundraiser for the chapter. The highest salesman award was presented to Rylie Gore and the second highest to Rebel Shook.
Each year the Leedey FFA honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the FFA Chapter. This year Sheldon Rounds was awarded the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree.
The Banquet concluded with the installation of officers for the 2023-2024 school year. The officers are as follows: President – Aidyn Boren, Vice President – Keelynn Dirickson, Secretary – Kelton Dowdle, Treasurer – Hudsyn Boren, Reporter – Delaney Acuna, and Sentinel – Cooper Jones.
