Megli to be Inducted into OK Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame

Richard Megli

Hammon School is proud to recognize Richard Megli as a 2019 Inductee into the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Richard, a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, began his employment with Hammon Public Schools in August 1979 where he has remained for 41 years as Teacher/ Coach/Administrator. He coached baseball for 39 seasons (fall and spring) before his resignation of head coaching duties to take on the responsibilities of JH/HS Principal/Athletic director in 1999. He remained active in a part time role in both baseball and basketball, including returning as interim Head Coach for the spring 2013 season before his retirement at the end of that year.

In his 20 years as head baseball coach, Coach Megli compiled a record of 623 wins against 211 losses. He made eight State Tournament appearances with one State Runner-up in 1992. Richard was an active member of the OBCA for 20 years as a head coach and remained a member of the organization because of its commitment and dedication to the development of young athletes through the sport of baseball until his retirement in 2013. Richard is only the fourth coach in the state to receive the honor of being inducted into both the OBCA Baseball and Basketball Halls of Fame! Congratulations!
