Melvin Harold Jefcoat was born June 2, 1939 in Sweetwater, Oklahoma to Florence Eva (Hillman) and Robert Paul Jefcoat. He passed away Friday, April 9th, 2021 at his home at Reydon, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 7 days.
Melvin grew up in Sweetwater, Oklahoma where he attended school graduating in 1957. Shortly after graduation he was married to Connie Mae (Kahoa) at Connie’s family home in Sunny Point, Oklahoma on January 5, 1958. After their marriage they made their home in the Sweetwater community where they operated a dairy. They later moved to Reydon and continued their dairy operation for 14 years. After selling their dairy operation, Melvin began working in the oil field in 1973 where he was employed with Loffland Drilling for 11 years. In 1983 he began driving a truck and continued for the better part of 8 years. Throughout all these years Melvin farmed and ranched for a total of 63 years. Melvin was a hard worker and believed in providing for his family and could often be seen gardening, traveling and tending his fishpond. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Jefcoat; two sisters, Eva Pauline Jefcoat and Donna Mae Jefcoat Burgtorf. Melvin is survived by his wife, Connie, of the home; two sons, Douglas Jefcoat and Steven Jefcoat; two daughters, Elizabeth Jefcoat, Roberta Baldwin and husband, Lawrence; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Athena Nabors and Billie Harden and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 15th, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Silent Home Cemetery officiated by Chuck Milner.
