In Ma’s journal entries, she wrote of behaviors that suggested worsening tissue degeneration caused by meningitis.She wrote of him being moody both before and after a seizure, unexplained destructive behavior as well as his tendency to wander away from the homestead for extended periods of time with no warning. The entry dated March 13, 1902, stated “O.M. gone on an exploring [e]xpedition.” The next day she wrote, “No word of Bloke.”There was no more mention of Pa in her journals until February 1903.
