Michael Glenn Land of Cheyenne, Oklahoma passed unexpectedly February 4th, 2021, at the age of 16, on his way to the gym at the Hammon School.
Michael was born on December 20, 2004. He went to school in Reydon for Pre-Kindergarten, Cheyenne Schools from Kindergarten through 8th grade and Hammon schools for 9th grade and 10th grade. He was involved at the First Baptist Church of Elk City where he gave his life to Christ and was also Baptized and participated in the Community Fellowship Youth Group in Hammon.
He was involved in the Hammon Academic Team, earning the honor of MVP of the Oklahoma Great Plains Academic Conference.
Michael was an extremely passionate, and avid basketball player. This last season marked a milestone for him, having performed several dunks throughout the season. He played not only on his school teams, but numerous different league teams throughout the years and often devoted his off time to practicing and doing everything he could to improve. This led to achieving one of his dreams of making it to the State Championship playoffs with the Hammon Warriors in 2020 where he was the only person to make a dunk in the big house that year. He was also very proud to receive the honor of making the Warrior Classic All-Tournament teams two consecutive years. He was a fun-loving and light-hearted young man who always had a smile on his face that was infectious to everyone around him.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at The Hammon Gymnasium in Hammon, Oklahoma.
