
A Memorial Service to honor and remember Nancy Wessels will be held at The United Methodist Church 404 Moad, Cheyenne OK, 73628 on Saturday October 29, 2022 at 1:00 pm. A private burial service for family only will take place at a later date. Nancy Gale Patton Wessels 76 of Baird Texas passed into the arms of Jesus on November 19, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.
Nancy was born in Morenci AZ and was the only child of Elza D Patton and Alva Keener Patton of Silver City NM. Nancy met the love of her life and later married Melvin Wessels where they made their home in Cheyenne OK.
Nancy is remembered as a very gently, loving and kind Woman who’s love for horses was evident in all her conversations. Nancy believed that the only way to train a horse was through Pat Parelli’s tried and true horse training. Nancy loved to tell the stories of growing up with her parents and working in the dress shop with her Mother, and her love of the Native American culture, volunteering at the Washita Battlefield National Historic Site. Nancy was active in her community, taking pride in serving as the Chamber President at one time.
Nancy always had a nurturing heart, caring for family and others before herself. Nancy and Mel lived a full life in Cheyenne, participating in the local parades showing Mel’s vintage cars and even hooking up a teams of horses all decked out to parade them down the street in style.
Nancy was proceeded in death by her parents Elza and Alva Patton, her grandparents Watts and Nellie Keener, Charlie and Susie Patton, and the love of her life Melvin Wessels.
Those left to cherish her memory are her stepchildren Deborah (Cody) Quick, Teresa Crawford, Kimberly (Darcy) Greenough and Kasey (Janna) Wessels all of Nebraska. Step Grandchildren, Jessica (Josh) Stoker, Kristopher (Amanda) Willcock, Eric Willcock, Brett Quick, Kellen Quick, Jarid (Emily) Crawford, Justin (Kristina) Crawford, Lana (Erik) Macias, Mitch Musquiz, Jake and Levi Jakubowski, Brandon (Caroline) Perry, Chase (Michaela) Perry, Kinzie (Adam) Zlomke, and Kolby Wessels, 24 great grandchildren, several cousins, and her beloved friends of Cheyenne OK and Clyde Tx.
