After a short business meeting on March 2, 2023, Marilyn Wilson, Carol Ann Batterton, Lu Eisler, Kathryn Harrison, Allen Atha and Laura Lopez listened as Ann Graham told a captivating story of the history of the Pakan Community, which is ten miles west of Shamrock in Wheeler County, Texas.Pakan was founded in the early 1900s by Sam Pakan and five other Czechoslovakian men who had bought land in the Texas Panhandle (near Shamrock).
