Graveside service for Peggy Louise Schmidt, 77-year-old former Hydro resident, will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at Miller Cemetery in Strong City, OK with Chuck Miller officiating. Services are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Peggy was born November 6, 1942, in Strong City to Clyde Oliver and Rosa Louise (Bottom) Stamper and passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020, in Mc- Mahan Nursing Center in Lawton, OK. Peggy was raised and attended school in Strong City area, graduating from Cheyenne High School in 1960. On August 25, 1960, she married Ronald Luther Schmidt in Strong City and made their home in Clinton, OK and later moved to Hydro in 1968.
Peggy earned her Bachelor of Science and Master degrees from Southwestern State College. She taught in the Hydro Public Schools from 1970 to 1981. Peggy owned Country Expressions clothing store from 1981 to 1996. After her husband’s death in 1997, she moved to Kingston in 1997 to 2000 when she moved back to Elk City to be near family.
Peggy enjoyed antiques, junking and spending time with family and friends.
Peggy is survived by one son, Greg Schmidt and wife, Sandy of Durham, OK; one daughter, Tonya Hendricks and husband, Michael of Medicine Park, OK; two sisters, Francis Summers of Oklahoma City, OK and June Hartpence of Pottsboro, TX; four grandchildren, Kade Schmidt, Jake Isch, Skylar Taylor and Olivia Schmidt; and three great-grandchildren, Emmy Schmidt, Lane Schmidt and Whitley Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
