SAYRE, Oklahoma: Bring the family and join a Park Ranger at Gallery @ 112 for free storytelling & an activity. For the month of February, kids will learn about bears with the story “Bear’s Loose Tooth” by Karma Wilson.
The accompanying activity is to make a tissue paper bear mask. The Cheyenne viewed bears as great medicine animals with strong spiritual power. Because these animals are swift of foot, enduring, and hard to kill, the Cheyenne used bear skin on shields hoping that those same characteristics would protect the warrior. Future Reading Ranger events will be held the second Tuesday and third Thursday of every month.
