Reading Ranger Story-time: The Return of the Buffalos

Cheyenne, OK: Bring the family and join a Park Ranger at the local library for storytelling and an activity. For the month of September, kids will hear the story The Return of the Buffalos by Paul Goble. Through the detailed illustrations by Mr. Goble, the story reveals the close kinship between the Plains Indians and the American Bison, also known as the buffalo. This month participants will make buffalo masks. In Plains Indian culture, elements of the buffalo adorned regalia for dancing rituals, for powerful medicine, and for decoration.
