Sherry Hensley 1950 ~ 2023

Sherry Cromwell was born on June 9th, 1950 in Borger, TX. She passed into eternity on January 4th, 2023 at the age of 72 in Alamogordo, NM. She was raised in and around Sayre, OK by her mother, Mozelle Bramlett and later by her stepfather, B.G. ‘Burge’ Bramlett. She graduated from Sayre High School in 1968 and was involved in the First Baptist Church of Sayre, where she gave her life to Christ.
She met the love of her life, Glen Hensley, while working at the Sonic and they had their first date at a Valentine’s Banquet at her church. They were married after she graduated high school on June 15th, 1968 in Sayre and after a short honeymoon to Shamrock and Amarillo they would make their first home in Weatherford, OK.
Sherry and Glen have one son, Chad Hensley, born to them in Sayre on March 6th, 1971. Their niece, Trisha Aylor of Midwest City was especially close and is considered a daughter/sister by their family. Sherry was a mom to countless others who passed through their home over the years. Over the 54 1/2 years of their marriage, Glen and Sherry made their homes in a variety of places before settling in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. They would live in Cheyenne until Glen’s retirement in 2013 when they moved to their final home in High Rolls, NM. Sherry’s life was defined by love and service and she would work in a variety of roles over the years, having a profound impact on the lives of her co-workers and friends no matter what her job was at the time. She was known for her joy and smile and for always remembering to reach out to friends in need or going through personal trials. Sherry and Glen’s home was always open to all and they hosted many who came over to find a listening ear, a hot meal or a shoulder to cry on. She never met a stranger and continued to send encouraging notes and cards to many even into her final days.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Peggy JoAnn Dyer and Jeanie Matlock. She is survived by her husband Glen of High Rolls, NM; her son Chad and his wife Deanna of Cyprus; her niece Trisha Aylor and her husband Mike of Midwest City, OK; her sister Sharon and her husband George of Yukon, OK; three grandchildren, Ashton, Justin and Kaden; two great nephews and their families, Blake and Sarah Allen of Clinton, OK and Blaine and Courtney Allen of Cordell, OK; as well as many other nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers please send donations in her honor to their church, Trinity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 367, 1 Old Railroad Dr, High Rolls Mtn Pk, NM 88325. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, January 14th at Trinity Baptist Church in High Rolls, NM.
Psalm 116:15 – Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Sherry was faithful to the end, a wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend like no other.
