Doctors and dentists are seeing a seriously stinky side effect of prolonged mask wearing which they have dubbed MASK MOUTH. Symptoms include tooth decay, gum inflammation and sour breath. As we’re wearing masks during covid, rather than breathing through our nose, we’re breathing through our mouth. This lack of humidity causes dry mouth because less saliva is produced. We need saliva to help rinse off teeth and keep everything healthy. The best way to avoid mask mouth is to stay hydrated. This prevents bacterial build up.
