ELK CITY, Landry Brewer — Elk City’s mayor hosted a top-level British politician and several important American officials late in World War II.The British Ambassador to the United States—Edward Frederick Lindley Wood, better known as Lord Halifax—and his wife visited Elk City as the guests of Elk City mayor Dr. V.C.
