Thurmond Family Discussed at Genealogy Meeting

Members of the Roger Mills County Genealogical Society met Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the Cheyenne Library. Those attending were Marilyn Wilson, Doris Minor, Dale & Judy Tracy, Linda Maddux, Laurie Bogle, Kathryn Harrison, Laura Lopez, Alan Alva, and Ann Graham. Our guest and speaker was Susie Thurmond. The program titled “The Thurmonds, A Little History & Some Conjecture” was given by Susie Thurmond. David Holmes and Elizabeth Napier Thurmond married in 1834 in Virginia. They had 5 children, one of which was named Erasmus G Thurmond. The Thurmond family left Virginia and moved to Kentucky after the Civil War.…
