Velma Dean Robison of Follett was born December 18, 1928, to James and Cleo (Provines) Clay at their home in Midway (now Reydon, OK). She died August 2, 2020, in Ochiltree General Hospital at the age of 91. Dean and her husband Don were both raised in the Reydon area, then lived in Lefors and Pampa before they made their home in Follett in 1970. Don preceded Dean in death in 2002.

Dean took great pleasure in babysitting hundreds of children throughout her life; she was six years old when she got her first babysitting job. She loved her kids and their families and took great pride in the relationships she made with them. When she retired from babysitting she enjoyed sitting on her front porch near the school and watching her kids playing on the school playground. As a young girl Dean said when she grew up she would go barefooted and eat candy whenever she wanted, and she did.

Dean is survived by their three children: Margaret Robison of Weatherford, OK., Orville Robison and wife Teresa of Follett, and Clayton Robison and wife Jeanette of Blanco. Eight grandchildren: Mesa Huybers Robison of Weatherford, OK., Eric Robison of Follett, TX; Dirk Robison and wife Margie of Groom, TX; Caleb Robison and wife Angel of Las Vegas, NV; Zachary Robison and wife Heather of Ft. Myers, FL; Seth Robison and wife Haley of Bogart, GA; Joshua Robison and wife Ydira of Cape Coral, FL; and Jessica Land and husband Brackston of San Marcos, TX.

Dean has 11 great grandchildren and another due in April. Other survivors are three sisters: Gertrude Flesher of Cheyenne, OK., Hester Millemon of Rolla, KS., and Mildred Harrison of Attica, KS.

Dean was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Bula May Sides of Durham, OK., Russell Clay of Reydon, OK., and Kenneth Clay of Montana.

Dean was a strong proponent of “giving flowers while we live,” so on her behalf, her family thanks you for the kind acknowledgements of her life. Memorial donations in Dean’s honor may be made to Follett Educational Corporation, Drawer 28, Follett, TX 79034.
