During the month of August, we had 623 visitors. That’s about 20% less than our 5 year average. This week, Washita is partnering with Ancestral Lands, a Native youth corps with the AmeriCorps program. The Ancestral Lands’ vision is to have Native youth leading our Nations back to ecological and cultural well-being. Beginning September 16 and for eight days straight, the Ancestral Lands crew will spray herbicide on Johnson grass and remove Siberian elm sprouts with weed wrenches.
