Washita just approved its Structural Fire Management Plan. Now we turn to the Fire Management Plan (FMP) for the park. The FMP is a strategic plan that defines a program of work to manage wildland fire (including prescribed fire and wildfire) and nonfire fuel treatments. According to our policies and directives, “Each park unit with burnable vegetation must have an approved Fire Management Plan that will address the need for adequate funding and staffing to support the fire management program.” Washita is member of the Southern Plains Fire Management Group (SPFG) and the Fire Management Officer and primary support staff…
