The National Daughters of the American Revolution Day of Service takes place each year on or around October 11th, to honor the anniversary of DAR’s founding on October 11, 1890. Chapters and individuals are encouraged to engage in meaningful service projects in their communities each year. Washita Chapter chose to honor the only woman veteran among the 120 veterans buried in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery, Cpl. Elva June Kopp Hayes.
