Mr. Newell Wright Judge Pat Versteeg introduced former Cheyenne attorney, Newell Wright, at the December meeting of the Roger Mills Genealogy Society. Mr. Wright discussed the life of his great grandfather, Allen Wright, the man who gave Oklahoma its name. Allen Wright, a full blood Choctaw, was born in 1826 in Mississippi. In 1833 the Choctaw land was seized without compensation, and the Wright family became part of the Trail of Tears to Indian Territory.
