Yolande Cleo “Y.C.” Fuchs, Jr. was born January 23rd, 1936 to Dorothy Alene (Dyer) and Yolande Cleo Fuchs, Sr. He passed away Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Y.C. grew up in the Sweetwater community where he attended school graduating in 1954. Shortly after his graduation he was married to Crystal Donnaleta (Atchley) at the Church of Christ building in Sweetwater on July 17, 1954. After their marriage Y.C. worked as a butcher in Sayre and in Pampa, Texas before returning to the family farm in 1959. Y.C. continued helping his father until his passing when he, along with his family, continued on the operation. It is said that Y.C. farmed to support his cattle operation, but in reality he was widely renowned for raising and selling Polled Hereford bulls. It is this business that is still in operation to this day. In his spare time you could often find him on his bulldozer working some more, at church or spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Brandon Cleo Turner.
Y.C. is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donnaleta, of the home; 3 daughters, Cynthia Turner and husband, Jeff, Perryton, TX, Carolyn Newell, Sweetwater, OK and Crystal Fuchs, Edmond, OK; 4 grandchildren, David Erickson and wife, Staci, Michael Turner and wife, Elizabeth, Jill Kelley and husband, Barry and Jesse Newell and wife, Rachael; 6 great grandchildren, Jacob and Jase Erickson, Ava Turner, Paige and Wade Newell and Stella Kelley and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:30 P.M. at the Sayre Church of Christ officiated by Billy Clabaugh. Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals. com
